Food chains

This week in year 4, we have been doing science and we have recently learnt what food chains are.(e.g) say like a leaf is eaten by a snail , a snail is eaten by a Duke and a Duke is eaten by a fox so that shows what a food chain is.

Here are some facts about food chains

1. A carnivore is a meat eater.

2. A Herbivore is a plant eater.

3. A primary consumer is a animal that eats plants only and it is eaten by a other animal.

4. A secondary consumer is a animal that eats other animals and gets eaten by a other animal.

5. A producer is a plant who makes food for other plant eaters but the sun is always first in any food chain.

6. A top consumer is a animal which eats other animals but does not get eaten by anything.

our safari parks

In year 4 this week it has been science week,we have been reading a book called the mixed up chameleon. In the book there is a chameleon and when its hungry it turns grey, when its happy it is shiny green.

When the chameleon is on a tree in turns brown to blend in to the trees,or if there is a flower then it can blend into the petals.

When the chameleon spots a fly he turns upside down and then he gets ready to
gobble the fly up! (yummy yummy!)

In the story the chameleon goes to a zoo and he sees all of these animals (e.g) there was a elephant,a fox,a pola bear and there was much more.

The chameleon said to himself what it would be like if he was all those animals, then he stopped and started to think that he had a elephants head and seagull feet.Just then a fly came fluttering along but the chameleon couldn't eat him so the chameleon tured back to his normal form and he he ate the fly up

The End !

woodlice investigation

In science this week we have been learning about woodlice. We got in groups of two or three, after we had chosen our partners, we into the nature garden and our teacher Mr Nicholson had brought some magnifying glasses and a bug catcher 3000, which turned out to be a spoon!

So the we had to dig with the spoon and if we found a bug or woodlice then we would have to
pick it up with the bug catcher 3000 and look at its legs and body with the magnifying glass.
when we came in we copied down the questions on the board (e.g)

our aim:to see if woodlice prefer wet, dry, dark or light places.

method:

2nd:

3rd:

4th:

and a conclusion.

we liked going into the forest it was very enjoying and we liked it a lot.
